Gala of the Book of the Year Competition of the Polish Section of IBBY

This year, flooding in southern Poland destroyed homes and infrastructure, and with them our shared cultural and educational centers. Home libraries were lost, but so were public collections.

Many libraries, schools, kindergartens and community centers were flooded, and thousands of books and teaching materials were destroyed. That is why the Universal Reading Foundation took action to help the affected institutions and rebuild their collections, as part of the #KsiążkaChroni campaign.

Thanks to the publishers Dwie Siostry, HarperCollins, DEBIT, Mamania and Nowa Era and the distributor Platon, as well as all the donors who supported our fundraising (https://zrzutka.pl/z/pomagamybibliotekom) we have collected books that will be sent in prepared packages to places – libraries, schools, kindergartens, community centers and other centers affected by the flood.

Institutions interested in receiving book packages are asked to contact: [email protected]

Long-term support is key to rebuilding, we encourage you to support FPC’s activities at: https://zrzutka.pl/z/pomagamybibliotekom
