The Universal Reading Foundation and Legimi are once again handing out Kindle readers. This is a continuation of the #KsiążkaChroni campaign, which is primarily aimed at people with refugee experience.
Applications are being accepted from Public Libraries and Pedagogical Libraries that would like to receive a Kindle reader and monthly access to e-books and audiobooks in Ukrainian, Polish, English and German. The campaign is primarily aimed at supporting people with refugee experience, which is also actively undertaken by local libraries. In their information, educational and cultural activities, they invite you to use the resources. Therefore, it is important to provide all interested parties with access to literature in Ukrainian and English. Readers can become another reason to visit libraries and participate in the life of local communities.
Studies confirm that just 6 minutes of reading reduces stress levels by as much as 60%*. This is especially important for people who are dealing with trauma and the experience of refugeehood. This applies especially to children, but also adults who, by reading, also become role models and encourage the youngest to have contact with books - says Aleksandra Strzelecka, communications specialist at the Universal Reading Foundation.
Legimi has been involved in helping refugees since the beginning of the war. We believe that thanks to e-book readers, organized by FPC and distributed to libraries with the support of Legimi, our guests from Ukraine will have easier access to literature in their native language. We are glad that we can help in this way – adds Mikołaj Małaczyński, president of Legimi.
All Public Libraries and Pedagogical Libraries interested in receiving readers and access to the Legimi Library can contact us by writing to the following address: [email protected]
The number of readers is limited, shipments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
