Board of Trustees

The Trustees, are expert advisors, a group of public trust people who have agreed to support the Foundation pro publico bono with their knowledge and experience.

The Board of Trustees helps the Foundation in strategic elements: fundraising, networking, advocacy, communication.

Elżbieta Barembruch

Legal counsel, for many years professionally connected mainly with the telecommunications market, participates in the most important regulatory projects and proceedings in this sector, partner of the Barembruch i Wspólnicy Law Firm.

Dorota Bieniek-Kaska

Founder and president of LoveBrands Relations and LoveBrands Events, strategic communications agency, lecturer at UW

Paweł Bryndal

Legal counsel, mediator, for many years involved in legal assistance to organisations supporting the promotion of readership in Poland, partner of Barembruch i Wspólnicy Law Firm

Tessa Capponi-Borawska

Florentine by birth, Warsaw resident by choice, journalist and author of books about the history of cuisine and food culture.

Emily Cunningham

Experienced teacher, editor, and advisor.
Member of the Supervisory Board of Teach for Poland.
American with Polish ancestry and once lived in Warsaw.

Maria Deskur

President of the Board of the Universal Reading Foundation, book publisher since 2002; reading promotion acitivist, winner of the Zwyrtała 2019 award for best reading promotion project author of the „SuperPower of Books, A Handbook for Promoting Reading”.

Magdalena Duszyńska-Walczak

President of the Nowa Era publishing house, one of the Founders of the Universal Reading Foundation, member of the Council of the Polish Book Chamber.

Economist, manager. Graduated from SGH and Harvard Business School. Member of the polish Chamber of Books Council.

Iryna Kovalchuk

Ukrainian linguist, Preceptor in Polish, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, cultural manager and community organizer, translator.

Maja Łatyńska

Translator from Polish into English, researcher on European issues, creator of research and educational programs, fundraiser (e.g. Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Civic Education Project).

Grzegorz Majerowicz

Lawyer, graduate of the University of Warsaw, bookseller and publisher, vice president of the Polish Book Chamber, co-founder and board member of the Universal Reading Foundation.
